About Us
This Sacred Space is made up of a number of individuals seeking greater and more profound levels of wholeness and integration. Most of these individuals cannot be named and honored in this web-based environment as they comprise our collective of men who are currently incarcerated. While not named, these individuals make up the foundation of This Sacred Space. They are courageously finding the ways through their socially- and internally-derived prisons, and in that process, they are leading each other and others to uncover their own creative ways through life’s entanglements.
In service to these men is the small team listed below:
Kenny Johnson, Founder
Kenny spent over twenty years in prison and has been out of prison since 1997. He is a spiritual teacher and consultant to families and to those who have been out of prison and may be going to jail. He also just finished his soon to be released book, The Last Hustle, chronicling his years as a criminal and how he was transformed while incarcerated. Kenny has one passion and that is sharing the message that “God’s Grace Is Here Now.” Kenny’s spiritual awareness and other spiritual teachers insights have been published in the book, “The Awakening West”, by John Lumiere-Wins and Lynn Marie Lumiere.
“If there is anything worth serving, it’s this love. If there is anything worth being, it’s this love. If there is anything worth talking about it’s this love. If there is anything of real value it’s this love.” – Kenny Johnson
Richard Charles, Lead Facilitator
Richard is the father of four grown children and a grandfather to four others. He is a businessman of 30 years, a general contractor, and Real Estate investor. After leaving the Marine Corps in the 1960s, Richard worked with American Airlines and moved to San Francisco. Richard has spent a huge part of his life involved with spiritual and transformative work, EST, Attitudinal Healing, the 12 Step program, and The Work of Byron Katie. It was The Work that led him to San Quentin five years ago. He now works with This Sacred Space and is the lead facilitator of This Sacred Space Men’s Group. He has found his passion, and that is working with men in prison.
