This Sacred Space is proud to be affiliated with all groups and individuals who are seeking to make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected by incarceration.

OAKLAND GREEN YOUTH MEDIA ARTS CENTER

Oakland Green Youth Media Arts Center is one of the inaugural businesses within the CAP Business Coaching Program.

The Oakland Green Youth Arts & Media Center is one of the first arts and multimedia centers dedicated to both ecological awareness, as well as artistic and professional development for underserved youth in the nation. By working as a coalition with other non-profit partners to offer media arts and green job readiness training with wraparound services, this Center aspires to prepare youth to join either the entertainment or green industries. Further, through business/entrepreneurial mentorship, it will prepare its constituents to enter the marketplace with business-to-consumer and business-to-business ventures. The Center will provide the basis for training, operations, structure, and resources — all that is needed to achieve the success of youth businesses incubated at the Center. Eventually, peer-to-peer training and networking will carry both the Center and it’s constituents forward. Green For All strongly believes that the Center will serve as a model for other cities and community development entities, and that its management – who is also participating in our Business Coaching Program – can exchange stories and best practices with similar centers across the globe.

CENTERFORCE

The Centerforce mission is to strengthen individuals and families affected by incarceration through a comprehensive system of education and support.

Centerforce provides services for prisoners, ex-prisoners, and family members of prisoners through direct services, its annual conference and, through consultation and training for government agencies, community-based organizations and correctional facilities across the country and internationally. Direct services for clients are provided by our four Service Areas: Children and Families Services, Transitional Services, Prisoner Service, and Informational Services.

FACT

As of December 31, 2004, 104,848 women were held in state and federal prisons – up from 68,468 in 1995. Women constituted 7.0 percent of all inmates – up from 6.1 percent in 1995.

IMPACT

Project IMPACT is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that was started in 1995 in response to the overwhelming number of children whose fathers are either absent or not engaged in their lives.

We feel that we have put together one of the best all-encompassing Male Accountability programs available. It is our belief that many men, young and old are incarcerated long before they ever take a step inside of a jail or prison. They are incarcerated by their upbringing, associations, addictions, and adopted behaviors. You do not need to be in prison to be incarcerated!

It is our goal to break the cycle of abandonment, to assist in the development of a healthier understanding of the male thought process and to establish a commitment to Accountability, Integrity and Responsibility.

KATARGEO

Established in 1992 to address the problems associated with offender recidivism in San Quentin State Prison. The groups discuss communication problems, motivational skills, creating support systems and improving family relationships.

The Katargeo mission is to assist parolees in transition from incarceration to community living; improve the health and welfare of parolees who are homeless as a result of prior chemical dependency or mental disorder; create an environment that instills responsiveness and responsibility among those served; and promote heightened levels of safety and welfare in our communities by preparing parolees for productive and accountable re-entry into open society.

GANGAJI

Gangaji, an American born teacher and author, has traveled the globe since 1990, speaking with spiritual seekers from all walks of life. Her message is powerful in its clarity and simplicity: True peace and lasting fulfillment are not only our birthright, they are the essential nature of our being. Gangaji invites you to discover the possibility of living your life in the freedom and joy of simply being.

INSIGHT PRISON PROJECT

Working in partnership with San Quentin State Prison, Insight Prison Project (IPP) runs 19 unique classes through our Success Dorm, reaching 300 prisoners a week. The majority of these classes take place in the “Success Program,” a model of in-prison rehabilitation that IPP pioneered under the guidance of then Warden Jeanne Woodford, currently the CDCR Under Secretary.

HUMAN KINDNESS FOUNDATION

The Human Kindness Foundation, founded by Bo and Sita Lozoff, is a non-profit organization which stresses a way of life based upon three common principles taught by the great sages of all religions: Simple living, a dedication to service, and a commitment to personal spiritual practice.

SENIOR EX-OFFENDER PROGRAM

Designed for ex-offenders who are seniors or about to be seniors.

Life is not easy when you get out of prison. When you are older there are special needs and challenges. The SEOP program is the first of its kind in the nation to address the needs of senior ex-offenders.
